IAM Service Updates
As a part of continuing efforts to enhance the security posture of statewide IT systems, and due to the access NCEdCloud IAM LEA Administrators and NCEdCloud IAM LEA Data Auditors have to student and employee account data, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will now be required for users with either of these roles in the NCEdCloud IAM Service.
All Canvas users should be aware that Canvas SSO Certificate/Key rotation will take place on Friday, April 21, 2017.
Employee NCEdCloud IAM Service passwords expire 90 days after being reset (or occasionally when manually expired by an LEA Administrator). When this happens an employee logging onto the service will receive a “password has expired” message. In order to set a new password the user will be asked to answer a short set of challenge questions that were answered during the initial account setup. Has it been awhile since you’ve checked your challenge questions? Before the holidays, why don’t you revisit your challenge questions and provide answers that you’re sure to remember.
August 3, 2016 IAM Service Webinar For Charter Schools
On August 3, 2016 at 1:30 PM, the NCEdCloud IAM Service team hosted an informational webinar on the NCEdCloud IAM Service (see https://ncedcloud.mcnc.org/). Topics such as the processes used for getting their users’ data into the service, and managing user accounts within the service (e.g. activating new users, deactivating former users, etc) were covered.
On Friday evening, March 4, 2016, between 6:00-8:00 PM, the NCEdCloud IAM Service’s underlying software, Identity Automation’s RapidIdentity, will be upgraded to version 3.5. After the upgrade, users will be presented with an updated login. Please see the screenshot below for an explanation of the new features.
This Friday, January 29, 2016 at 5:00 PM ET, the NCEdCloud IAM Service will be updated with the “LEA-Specific Privileged Roles Enhancement” and a change to the Schoolnet roles data processing logic. No downtime is expected as a result of this update.
