IAM Working Group Update, January 2014
We hope you all had a good holiday break and that the New Year is going well. Below are a few updates about the NCEdCloud IAM Service. We are currently in the Deployment Phase for Early Adopters.
NCEdCloud IAM Service Production Environment Running
On January 1, 2014, the IAM Service Production Environment went live! The IAM Service has 4 environments: Development, Test, Production, and Demo. The Test and Production environments are full-scale mirrors of each other with high availability and auto-scaling features of Amazon AWS.
Onboarding and Integration Sessions with Early Adopters + First IAM Users
Between December and January, we have been working closely with the early adopters in preparation for the integration, adoption, and roll out of the new service in those districts. Each early adopter will have its own timeline and plan. Most early adopters have a few users that have claimed their NCEdCloud accounts and are now using the Core IAM Service. Beginning next week, Identity Automation will start the technical integration process for initial target applications that early adopters have expressed interest in. Current early adopters: Brunswick, Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Davie, Johnston, McDowell, New Hanover, Onslow, Research Triangle High School, Rockingham, Transylvania, and Woods Charter.
Year 2 Workstreams (Year 1 Apps - General Availability, + Ten New Target Applications)
On April 1, 2014, we will begin Year 2 of the NCEdCloud IAM Service. Year 2 will have two major workstreams for the IAM Service. Workstream #1 will be the continuous integration of the initial 5 target applications for all interested districts. Workstream #2 will be the integration of 10 new target applications (tentatively including the 5 Home Base applications). We will be following up with you soon to finalize the list of Year 2 applications.
Upcoming Meetings and Conferences
The NCEdCloud IAM team will be participating in a variety of upcoming K-12 meetings and conferences. One or more of our team members will be speaking about the NCEdCloud IAM Service and be available to answer any questions.
